Seven Oaks Publishing Company

Back in the early to mid-1990s a group of like-minded people started Seven Oaks Publishing in Conway, Arkansas.  A collection of W.C.’s newspaper columns related to life in the Ozarks was their first publication (A Sense of Place).  They then went on to publish a collection of W.C.’s poetry (I Missed the Train to Little Rock), a collection of essays (Ozark Writers on Writing), a series of audio books, and books by Velda Brotherton (Wandering in the Shadows of Time) and Jim Hamilton (River of Used to Be:  Reflections of an Ozark Editor).

Then around 1995, for reasons unknown, Seven Oaks Publishing Company disbanded.  The investors went their separate ways, but before going to Jamaica the head honcho dropped off the inventory of printed books, the financial records, the checkbook, and the unused ISBN numbers with W.C.  In essence, W.C. inherited a publishing company.  Throughout the ensuing years he continued to sell the Seven Oaks titles that were in his name, but that was the only action that the company saw.

By the fall of 2010, due in part to the economic recession, W.C. and I had six manuscripts that had been under contract with traditional publishing houses returned to us within eighteen months.  All these works had received the stamp of approval by professional agents, editors and publishers.  Since they were worthy projects, we decided to bring those books to life under the Seven Oaks banner.

PLEASE NOTE

At this time Seven Oaks Publishing does not consider unsolicited manuscripts.
